Collaborative
Decision-Making through Shared Governance
Committee is defined of
members that have the duty of holding regular meetings to make decisions that
regard the respective organization. The committee is always defined with a set
of responsibilities that each member has to ensure that is full undertaken as
defined with the committee act that governs the organization. The governance of
business is known for the leadership and management that I provided within the
business. The leadership is all about decision making and providing direction
on how to implement the different operations.
Based on the meeting
held in California in an information technology service based organization, it
was to my observation of different and common functions that the organization
committee of governance had before their desk. A committee is well known of
undertaking activities on behalf of the legitimate members.
·
The initial
function that was identified was the planning of the future directions
regarding the organization. The function is defined with the response of
providing the anticipated operations that will get the organization meeting the
defined objectives.
·
The other
considered crucial function is making decisions that regard the different
interest of the members basing on the defined policies and procedures to see
the growth of the institutions towards meeting the defined objectives.
·
The committee is
known for developing the organization rather institution policies and
procedures. The action defines how activities are supposed to take place within
the given context of the operation.
·
The committee is
also defined of implementing the recommendations of the members of the
organization to see that their wishes are being considered for their better
enjoyment of being members.
·
A committee is
defined as developing and providing managerial services to the external
relationship. The committee is concerned with the establishment of the conduct
between the members and the interests of the outside environment.
·
The other
function of committee identified was the sourcing of resources and making sure
that all financial and legal matters regarding the organization are well
managed. This provides the attributes of integrity and dignity within the
operations of the company.
·
Subsequently, it
is also known for ensuring that the members of the committee take their
responsibilities with the required leadership skills.
The committee is always
established with well-qualified members that have the desirable skills and
experience that regards the interests of the organization. Primarily the
committee is defined with the role of providing an understanding of the
specific responsibilities and getting them implemented as per their defined
positions within the organization. There are mandatory positions of a
chairperson, treasurer, secretary and organizing secretary. The chairperson is
well known for having more roles of managing the committee groups as well
chairing the committee meetings. Otherwise, their roles are well defined in the
constitution of the organization. The secretary of the committee is known for
handling the communication matters and maintaining the records efficiently and
effectively. The treasurer is always concerned with tracking and providing
correct reports that regard the financial matters of the organization. There is
also the general committee member that provides support in deputizing some of
the defined roles though they are defined with monitoring financial positions.
The interactions of the
committee members were advanced and were done through an opening forum whereby
the members were allowed to present their views and then allowed to discuss the
opinions. The discussions were under the direction of the chair. These
interactions provided a good sharing ground and indeed it provided a form of
shared governance.
