Department
of Homeland Security (DHS) is combining efforts with partners across the globe
waging war against terror attacks on both homes and in abroad. One of the major
goals is strengthening homeland security enterprise through establishing fusion
centers. DHS is focusing on supporting states as well as major urban centers
through establishing security panels, training security officers, providing
technical assistance, providing funds to cater for secure infrastructures and
providing new technological weapons to fight terrorists. DHS is supporting a
Reporting initiative that calls for creating awareness for National Wide
Suspicious Activities.
Security officers are being trained on methods and
methodologies applied in recognizing behaviors and indicators of terrorist
acts, crimes, among other threats (Homeland Security Affairs, 2017). DHS is
highly promoting a procedure that facilitates enhanced explosives screening on
cargo, baggage, and individuals. High technological detectors are applied to
facilitate effective and efficient discovering of risky utilities. Individuals
are denied entry to public places in case discovered having any connections
with terrorism.
For
effective preparation, DHS has planned and securely kept some finances secured
to provide funds for providing preventive, protective, responses and recovery
operation from terror attacks. More than $ 100 billion has been set aside for
providing security measures to control, manage and mitigate attacks (Homeland
Security Affairs, 2017). For prevention measures, DHS is deploying new
technologies that promote next-generation threats and performs effective
analysis on possible areas of attacks. Some of the technologies applied include
the provision of advanced imaging technology, explosives detecting systems and
mechanisms, explosives tracing detective units, advanced X-Ray technology
systems, as well as bottled liquid scanners.
DHS has also planned a strategy for detecting and preventing
terrorist threats involving weapons such as biologically set weapons. They have
also provided mechanisms for detecting and identifying radiological components.
Finally, it also provides methods for securing nuclear weapons. Many training
centers and security officers have been provided with effective and efficient
training to facilitate domestic nuclear detection operations as well as
radiology discovering of explosives (Homeland Security Affairs, 2017). New
surveillance systems and technologies have also been developed such as
BioWatch. It enhances wide range surveillance with the intention of detecting
biological, radiological and nuclear threats.
DHS is
focusing on strengthening intelligence and information sharing capabilities
through establishing a collaborative partnership with private sectors,
stakeholders, to protect against as well as respond towards terror attacks.
Intelligence systems are being applied for effective and efficient identification
of foreign, domestic, suicide bombers as well as active shooters (Homeland
Security Affairs, 2017). The strategy is promoted through establishing advanced
operations as well as the establishment of emergency communication networks.
Communication technologies and resources ensure that terror attack responders
have full capabilities of enhancing communication with each other with the aim
of protecting lives and properties. Another preparation criterion is supporting
health care operations to facilitate better treatment, fast recovery and
immediate health care attention to victims, of any terror attack as well as
treatment of injured victims. Other security issues include enhancing cyber
security through establishing cyber security education. It promotes measures
that can be applied to prevent, mitigate as well as respond to cases involving
cyber threats. It also incorporates procedures for detecting and responding to
incidences such as cyber espionage and computer crimes. The measure put into
implementation include establishing robust intelligence reporting to various
officials and responders in a particular region. Various responders in regions
include Field Intelligence Officer (FIO), Intelligence Liaison Officer (ILO)
programs as well as Crime Analysis Center programs (Homeland Security Affairs,
2017).
Personal
Opinion
Cases
involving terror attacks have increased in high rates. Deadly attacks have
occurred within a short period. The attacks experienced in the year 2017 are a
clear indication that there is warfare and competing for superiority. There are
factors that show that there is some religious competition between Islamic
religion and Christianity. Similarly series of attacks reveal that there is a
completion between Americans and Arabs over superiority. The attacks are mainly
religious-based with many of the attacks being induced by religious beliefs.
Most of the attacks are related to revenge or are triggered by the particular
interference of Americans DHS into Arabs affairs. The solution to random attacks
and massive killing of innocent individuals can be ensured through effective
provision of unified efforts as well as avoiding revenge operations.
Communication among the official and leaders as well as religious people can
bring unity among the disagreeing parties.
Defense
of your opinion
It is clear
that many attacks occurred between the beginnings of May and August, which is
associated with Muslims holy months. Most of the involved terrorist associate,
their attacks with the religious, believe such as jihadism. It can also be
observed that many of attacks are aimed at Americans states as well as other
countries where Americans have political, economic, or social interests. The
response, support or interference provided by American is indicating super
power and potential to conger others which trigger terrorists planning for
other tasks targeting Americans.
