Technology Connection

Vocabulary words will be defined to ensure that the students understand the underlying concepts used in the unit. The type of words used during presentation ought to be appropriate for the student and easy to understand. The students will be required to note down every vocabulary and define them at the end of the lesson as directed by the teacher. The students will be provided with a dictionary website link at the end of the lesson for them to find the meanings on their own.
The vocabulary likely to be encountered by the students includes; mountains, topography, water bodies, environment, map, contours, and landforms among others.
Instructional Procedures
Introduction
The students will be introduced to the lesson by familiarizing them with the objectives and the primary source. The introductory section will involve an evaluation of student’s understanding of the environment as well as its physical landforms.
Body
The students will be required to watch and listen from the audio-visual presentation having the world landforms comprising of rivers, mountains, lakes, seas, and oceans. The documentary will be cast using a class projector and will be paused to allow for description and student observations.
The students will also be presented with power point presentation having some of the physical landforms and topographical maps to enhance their understanding of the topic.
After watching and going through the powerpoint presentations, it will be necessary to have extension services to accommodate the children with disabilities, English language learners, and slow learners. The students with disabilities and slow learners will be assisted by grouping them for additional instruction as the others take notes of their observations. It will also be necessary to provide them with recorded copies of the presentations in the form of compact disks for further study at home. The English language learners will be provided with detailed notes of the presentation using a simple language. A copy of the presentation will be given to the English language learner for them to use a translator if need be to enhance their level of mastery.
Closure
The students will be given links to the primary resource and other websites to search for the physical landforms within South Carolina.
I will give an overview of the primary resources and help the students make notes from them. I will also ask them to name all the natural features identified that are found in South Carolina and submit the following day.
 Assessment of Objectives
Student evaluation will involve the ability to identify landforms observed on the topographical maps, the audio-visual presentations, and the power point presentations. The mastery level set at 80% will not be applicable in the lesson since the assignment given will be a take-home. However, my assessment of the responses given will help to evaluate the students’ varying abilities for a more inclusive instruction in the next lesson.

ACTION RESEARCH ON BUSINESS ANALYSIS IN FINANCE

Planning
Orientation and introduction to the organization will be important since they will enable me to lay a strong foundation for my entire internship period at the organization. Additionally, first impressions will be critical since they will enable me to establish the basis for everything that will follow during my internship as a business analyst in finance. In this case, I will be needed to be oriented and introduced to the organization to make me feel comfortable with my new position and take a shorter time to reach my goals and potential. I will be required to prepare for the orientation because it will thoroughly:
        i.            Contribute to my effectiveness and productivity
ii.            Promote communication and interaction between the organization's supervisors and me during the internship
iii.            Provide me with concise and accurate data and information to make me comfortable as a business analyst in finance
iv.            Encourage my confidence and helps me adapt to the organization faster
During the orientation, it is my expectation that I will meet a lot of people. Therefore, I will be ready to absorb a lot of information from everyone that I will come into contact with. Among the preparations is having a ready way of recording and absorbing the information I will gain from these people. I also expect that I will be briefed on daily procedures at the organization such as clocking in and clocking out, where to put my belongings, and ways in which I should dress while at the organization. Additionally, I will be briefed on my responsibilities as a business analyst in finance.
Action
Though I had not been given dressing instructions, I dressed in such a way that I looked professional and polished. I was not sure whether I was going to be on my feet the whole day, but I wore comfortable shoes lest that was going to be the case. I had not been in the organization before, and because I needed to account for the time to find the premises, pack and check with my supervisor, I arrived early at the organization premises. I also ensured that I had a notebook and a pen to note what I was going to learn during the orientation and introduction to the company. Before I left the car to the area where the orientation was taking place, I ensure I had all my personal information on hand.
A security officer directed me to a large auditorium where orientation was going to take place. I had arrived early, and it had not started. However, twenty minutes later the orientation coordinator arrived accompanied by two other gentlemen. Without taking time, he welcomed us and immediately started narrating the history of the company to get us in the mood and the atmosphere of how things were done in the organization. The part in which the coordinator had to explain the history of the organization took much of the time. Immediately after, one of the gentlemen took over. His was not complicated and did not take long. In this session, he explained to us the day-to-day procedures and ways in which we were supposed to conduct ourselves at the organization.
The orientation took another one day where it was full of learning about the organization as well as looking for ways in which our days at the organization were going to be fruitful. At the conclusion of the second day, the orientation coordinator gave us a tour of the facility before giving us an opportunity in which we interacted with the employees of the organization.
Observation
During the orientation at the organization, I observed that orientation requires knowledge of one’s information and having a plan. There is a need for the person being oriented knowing the details of the organization beforehand and coming up with a comprehensive orientation plan. The orientation was full of knowledge and information absorption. From the knowledge and information, one could easily tell the nature of the organization and the seriousness they put in their new employees during the orientation and introduction to the company. Additionally, from the careful analysis of the information from the orientation coordinator, I knew that the internship was going to be successful. The orientation coordinator and the two gentlemen with whom he collaborated were very interested in making us feel part of the larger organization. They were thorough and made the orientation process seem simple though I had some fear that it was going to pose some challenges.
Based on the information I gathered, the organization conducted the orientation informally. They did not have scheduled sessions and were more casual with no pre-set agenda. A lot of questions came up when I was being presented with new information about the organization, day-to-day procedures, and my responsibilities on business analysis in finance. Although some of the questions were of concern to me, they were thoroughly clarified by the orientation coordinator who was always ready and prepared to answer every question that came up during the orientation sessions. During the tour of the facility, I saw the size of the facility. The organization had several buildings each hosting a department or several departments according to the line of duty of departments. Additionally, all the offices of the organization were within the facility.
Reflection
I was very happy when I found out that I was going to oriented and introduced at the organization in preparation for the internship later. When I first called at the organization to confirm my acceptance and then my first day for the orientation at the company, I knew that the internship was going to be successful and that I had made the right choice to learn business analysis in finance at the company. When I had my first meeting with the orientation coordinator, I knew that it was going to be a great experience because it was the first steps I had taken towards the journey of business analysis in finance where I was going to apply my knowledge and understanding in a meaningful way. I understood that if I was to be successful in associating the intricate concepts I had learned in class previously with real life situations, I had to ensure that the orientation was successful.
The orientation and introduction to the organization turned into my ability to get knowledge about the organization and the internship from others. From this, I was able to grasp the idea that business analysis in finance required comprehensive preparation to have a better foundation to acquire the set of unique skills. I knew that it was going to be a powerful force which was going to influence the outcomes of the internship at the end truly. Additionally, I knew that it was going to drive my purpose of being in the organization.
The iteration was successful. If I were to conduct the iteration again, I would employ the same methods. However, I believe that it was not perfectly conducted and that there are some things which would require being changed if it was to be repeated. Some of the things I would do otherwise are an allocation of more time and availing as many people from the organization as possible to give information to the interns.

Officer conduct

Police officers have been found guilty on several occasions being engaged in unlawful practices such that their conduct with the public fails to meet the ethical requirements of policing. There are so many reasons behind the increasing cases of police brutality only that they are defined within a given context (Weitzer, 305-325.). However, based on the level of understanding the department of policing, the outlined and established consequences for police misconduct are quite minimal.
The police officers have found themselves in the cases of misconduct with the public. The innocent public takes the step of reporting the police brutality complaints, but it is such unfortunate that either of the cases is investigated. According to the central New Jersey reports out of the police brutality complaints presented 99% of them are never investigated, and there is no substantive reason for the failing to provide the justice. This has only got 1% of cases being convicted. The police at the most sound of changing statements and always turning the public to have initiated the misconduct. The failure of providing the remedy to the police brutality has got them involved in the cases with no fear of being convicted. The public raises the eyebrows such that police departments cannot effectively, fairly and objectively undertake an investigation over an alleged misconduct of their officers which a fact. The police will opt out to remain silent over their fellow workmates instead of getting them convicted from the security force, subjected to fines or imprisonment judgment.
Governance is a very substantive aspect that every institution must hold with the concern and aim of making sure that the operations are confined to some well-established standards. The poorly established standards are what it takes to constitute to the police brutality, and it seems to vary widely from one state to another. At any given point, standards provide the guideline over the mode of conduct that police officers must take when interacting with the public. According to the law, the failure of observing the standards should lead to repercussions. However, the identified reason at this point is that the police department has not provided better standards for the police officers when they are in the line of duty. The police officers do not think of anything that may confine and restrict them instead they get involved in misconduct without the fear of facing any prosecutions. Well, the varying of standards fails to give the police officers understanding over what they should not get involved. The public is even not defined within the standards thus being undermined as well.
Furthermore, the other possible initiating factor towards the police misconduct is the training provided to the police officers. According to the experience that the public goes through with the police officers well provides evidence that the many sections of policing department have failed to provide the adequate training in cases of nonviolent solutions. The police officers do not have the best knowledge of appropriately handling and interacting with the public and the only likely thing for them to think as a last resort is violence. The presence of training over such like matters will have them informed on how to handle different cases without being involved in brutal activities. At times, the police officer will want to show off their superiority, and they only see violence as the best way of intimidating the public. The training should get them to an understanding of how to relate with the public in a friendly and polite manner to make sure that law and order are maintained peacefully.

In this company, I will be carrying out my internship as a CRM (Salesforce) developer where I will have an engagement in various tasks and projects to help take the company and my profession to another level.  I will be working in the information technology department in the software development section where I would have the opportunity of interacting with other IT professionals and project team members to come up with technology solutions that meet the market needs. I will be working on the customization and integration of the Salesforce CRM software in the enterprise as mentioned above. That will be proficient in developing, customizing, integrating and deploying the Salesforce CRM.  The vision of the IT department of the organization is to ensure the delivery of outstanding services and to use the cutting-edge technology to secure a large market share as compared to its business rivals. That aligns with the organization's corporate mission that entails market dominance.
There are issues in the department and section in which I will be working as an intern in the named company above, and these issues are what I intend to solve as an expert in CRM development. One of the challenges that the CRM developers are having in the company is that they are not able to provide highly complex customizations on their Salesforce CRM due to what I think is incompetence. I will use the best of my knowledge and conduct research that will help solve that problem. Also, the methodology used in conducting research in the organization is the old, archaic methods that do not meet the demands of the organization and their clients. I will leverage the Action Research methodology that will help solve the current problems in the organization and thus meet the ever-growing needs of their clients as well as the market trends.
Methodology
Action Research (AR) is a disciplined inquiry process conducted by researchers whereby the primary goal of that research is to refine or improve the practice of the participants and their organizations in which they work (Koshy, 2005). The researchers conducting AR find AR to be empowering because each one of them has active participation in the research process and is thus beneficial to everyone (Trist, 1979). AR takes place by groups of peers whose focus is on finding a tangible solution to the practical problem at hand. The problem may be the one that the researchers are facing or the one the organization in which is facing. The AR process provides a series of inquiry processes that the researchers utilize to find relevant information and the appropriate path towards finding a solution to the problem they are trying to solve (Lewin, 1946). Sit helps them reflect on the practical situation, collect data, analyze it, plan the actions and finally evaluate those actions for their appropriateness to9 solve the problem.
History of Action Research
We can track the history of AR to the 1940s from a renowned social USA scientist b y the name Kurt Lewin. You cannot talk about Action Research without making mention of this scientist because he the one that brought about the term Action Research on his paper on Action Research and Minority Problems (Winter, 1987). In that book, Lewin says that AR entails a participatory process for handling conflicts, changes as well as transitions in actions and practices and practices within an enterprise. Lewin says that the inquiry process follows a spiral form of steps whereby each takes place in a recurring manner. The work of Lewin had a great impact on the social psychology, group dynamics as well as in experimental learning emphasizing on the full participation of all stakeholders in the problem environment.  What Lewin, however, did not come up with the term action research is the claim of some writers.
The writers found out that Lewin coined that term from an earlier research work of Vienna done in 1913.  Another claim is that John Collier was the author of Action Research (Deshler & Ewart, 1995) because he used this methodology while conducting a study to improve race relations after the Second World War. Another book published by Buckingham (1926) with the title, ‘Research for Teacher’ also demonstrates a concept of AR process and this brings confusion as to the originator of Action Research. However, from the action research became very popular from the 1970s particularly in the education field where it has been having applications while research is taking place to develop curriculum.
The application uses of Action Research
Action Research is useful in many fields including technology, healthcare, scientific and education. Wherever AR has an application the aim is to improve aid, the practitioners discover better ways of performing their activities as well as solve the problems that they are facing as individuals or as an organization. AR helps the practitioners to know who to include in their research work and how each participating in the research process is to contribute to the findings of the research process (Heron, 1987). The healthcare industry is also benefiting from and due to its application, there is the discovery of new and better ways for the delivery of services and general improvement of the industry. While the researchers are interacting with the community as well as the stakeholders, they develop a deeper insight of the impact of their practices and the requirements for them to improve the practice. They also develop insight regarding the effects of their practice to the organization, community, and their lives.  The technology industry has been using AR to come up with new technological innovations via collaborative research of technological experts (Elden & Rupert, 1993).  As time goes by, AR will gain more popularity and have application in all fields where research is taking place.
Its appropriateness
I will make use of the AR process to carry out research towards while working as an intern in the named company above. While I will be trying to discover better ways of carrying out my duties as a CRM developer, I will draw the knowledge and skills of other professionals and experts in those areas. That will, in turn, help me to improve my practice and solve the impending problems in this area in the company where I am doing my internship. The participatory inquiry process of Action Research will help me and other company experts to collaborate ideas as we carry out research so as to result in well-informed decisions that will bear the anticipated fruits. The AR methodology is also an appropriate methodology for my internship because it emphasizes the involvement of all stakeholders and end users of research outcome. That will help while conducting research to incorporate all the stakeholders including end users and thus I will gain maximally from the research work.

health care system

One of the healthcare team members in the book is a primary care physician who Joe visited. The primary care physician was competent and was able to refer Joe to another doctor that is a specialist to look more into Joe’s condition. There was a nurse in the specialist office that did not portray much enthusiasm in her work creating anxiety among the patients. Also, there was a neurologist, Dr, Hagler that is competent and focused on establishing the exact cause of Joe’s condition and a receptionist that made appointments for the patients and facilitated the smooth running of the hospital.

The neurologist Doctor Hagler was able to give her professional opinion to Joe while maintaining a calm, friendly atmosphere that calms the nerves of any patient. She was able to determine Joe’s condition but recommend further test conduct on Joe to verify her diagnosis.  After Joe got back his lab result confirming that he was suffering from Huntington’s disease as the doctor had suspected she was able to comfort them and give him and Rosie that is his wife a way forward.
The receptionist was able to give priority to patients that arrived earlier and those that had emergencies to see the doctor first and gave patients a specific day to see the doctor creating that effectiveness in the hospital.
The healthcare system portrayed both negative and positive and was justified
Positive portray and justified in the sense that Dr such as Dr. Hugler was able to diagnose Joe and give proper advice on the way forward. The
Negative portray and justified because it is the same health system that offered the wrong diagnosis to his mother and let to her early death.
How to modify a health care system that has a Negative image
By introducing new health reforms such as geared toward the elimination of complexities in the current healthcare system.

Action Research

 Introduction
Action Research (AR) is a type of research that is started with the aim of developing a solution to either current or future problems. Besides that, AR is a reflective process of progressive problem solving which is initiated and led by individuals working as a team or working as a part of a community practice in a bid to improve how issues are addressed and problem solved. The strategy purpose of AR is solving a specific problem while producing guidelines for best practice in the future.

AR involves active participation in change participation through an organization while conducting research simultaneously. Established organizations or institutions may also undertake AR with assistance from professional researchers with the focus being improvement of the situation within the environment in which they conduct the practice. Researchers collaborate with others as designers and stakeholders in proposing a new course of action to help the community in which they live to improve the situation in the workplaces (Brown & Jones, 2001).
Types of AR
The choice of AR over the other is influenced by purpose, emphasis, and results. For this reason there are three types of AR that give educators an opportunity to conduct an investigation in the areas of concern and solve the challenges within their classrooms and their schools in general. AR can also improve the quality of an organization. The researcher collects data through which they diagnose problems, search for solutions, and act on developed solutions while they monitor the working of the action. The three types of AR are (Anderson & Herr, 1999):
·         Individual Teacher Research: It is conducted by a single teacher where the time spent doing the tasks depend on the teacher and the type of research he is developing. The area under investigation leads to the discovery of the problem in the institution or the society. Methods of collection, organization, and analysis of data depend on the researcher as well. The researcher then shares the outcomes of the research with members of the research group. The outcomes may be used in decision making.
·         Traditional AR: It originated from Kurt Lewin’s work within organizations where it comprises the concepts and practices of field theory, group dynamics, T-groups, and clinical models. Increase in the importance of relations between labor management resulted in the AR in the areas of organization development. The traditional AR is conservative and maintains status quo.
·         Radical AR: This AR focus strongly on emancipation and how to overcome power imbalances. It focuses on international development circles and strives for social transformation. It also focuses on strengthening peripheral groups in the society.
·         Educational AR: It is founded in the works of Thomas Dewey, the American philosopher during the 1920s and 1930s. The philosopher believed that educators should be involved in solving the problems of the community. Most of its practitioners operate out of educational institutions. It also focuses on curriculum and professional development.
·         Contextual AR: It is also known as action learning. It is a derivation of Trist’s work on organizational relations. It deals with reconstitution of the structural relations among actors in the society. It involves all the impacted parties and stakeholders. All the participants understand the work of the whole group, and it emphasizes that participants act as project designers and co-researchers.
History of AR
There is no clarity about the origins of AR according to the current literature. However, studies have shown that AR originated with Kurt Lewin, a psychologist in the America in 1946. It has evolved since its first use where careful study of the literature shows that it is derived from the scientific method. However, there is evidence that there are several social reformers such as Lippit, Collier, and Radke might have been using AR before discovery by Lewin. A work by Altricher and Gestetner cites physician named Moreno using group participation as far as 1913 in a community development in Vienna. Kurt Lewin described AR that it proceeds in spiral steps where each comprises planning, action, observation, and reflection as follows (Heikkinen, Huttunen, & Syrjala, 2007):
·         Planning: The phase involves development of a plan of the action the researchers intend to take or the change they intend to make.
·         Action: The phase involves working and executing the plan previously made in the planning phase.
·         Observation: The phase entails monitoring and recording various activities from the action phase to help evaluate the effect of action and the effectiveness of the proposed intervention.
·         Reflection: The researcher reflects on what has happened using the outcomes of the observations and other notes in his diary. They also evaluate what has gone on well and what has not gone well and how they can be improved.
Application of AR
AR is action oriented as the name suggests. AR is applied in affecting teachers’ actions, beliefs, activities, and effects. Researchers direct AR towards both understanding and improvement of the practice. Researchers essentially engage in AR with the intention of using the collected data to help educators understand or try new required methods for teaching and administering their teaching activities. There is action in the evaluation of the new strategies for the future use in instruction. AR leads in cropping up of new questions for examination. Therefore, it forges new forms of comprehending and deeper detailed insights into practice. AR, therefore, helps in fostering much of the teacher-based improvements in institutions of learning naturally (Moghaddam, 2007).
Appropriateness of AR in .Net Technology
AR helps in understanding how systems interact is making it one of the simplest method of comprehending social and organization systems. AR advocates the researchers to understand systems by trying to change them. One of the things a .net technology introduces is the theory that has the potential to inject a change in the system. AR does similar things thereby making it a suitable methodology of .net technology. The .net technology involves problem and change management making AR fits it appropriately (Salmon, 2003).
The .net technology passes through the process of gathering and consuming application knowledge. There is also the allocation of the piece of .net technology project to the developer. The .net technology developer identifies all the logical errors and finally corrects them. Other stages of the .net technology development are where the developer implements changes and documents everything. The development of .net technology is a full system development life cycle (SDLC) meaning the last stage also applies where the developers maintain the new development. For this reason, it can be attested the AR is a suitable tool that could be used in tracking and management of .net technology development (White, 1999).
