SWOT analysis ADIDAS

ADIDAS is a sports company with a strong brand worldwide. The company is well known for its wide variety of Shoes and also the brand manufacturer of accessories and clothing. This essay presents a SWOT analysis for the brand shoe company Adidas (Stony Brook University, 1).
Strengths
Adidas has enjoyed decades of legacy and heritage. The company effort in establishing a well mature brand from its youthful stages is evident. The brand establishment was in 1949 and has since then been traveling a very long way (Aaker, and Biel 201).
Adidas also has a strong financial position. The company account is $4.3 billion from its 2400 stores globally.

Adidas also has a diversified portfolio with multiple portfolios of its products ranging from accessoriness with the Addidas brand name, clothing, and footwear including the Reebok brand.
Addidas has a strong distribution network. It uses online store forming a strong and effective distribution system for its supermarket stores.
The company enjoys a strong relationship with members and collaborators especially on areas of sustainability such as the International Finance Corporation, the international labor organization. The strong relationship has given the company a higher edge against competitors with sustainable businesses.
The branding of the company is also strength. The company’s branding forms the community’s touch point. It sponsors the big sports organizations such as NBA, UEFA, Olympics, and FiFa and also uses celebrity endorsements to increases the awareness of the company in the market. Thus, these approaches have enabled the company to increase its targeted consumer base.
 Weaknesses
The price range is at a premium level. Due to the Production methods and innovation technology the prices have gone up and are only affordable to a few customers.
Adidas has a limited product line. It has only two brands under its group and has recently acquired the Reebok brand. Thus, much has to be done to increase the base of its product line.
93% of Adidas production is outsourced to other third parties manufactures mainly in Asia. It is due to the easy availability of raw materials and resources as well as the cheap cost of labor. The outsourcing means that the company is at risk of depending so much on outsourcing from the Asian markets. Additionally, the consumers in developed economies put to question the quality of products and its brands.
Opportunities
Adidas has made several sponsorship agreements to various sports events around the world. It has made sponsorship agreements with the Australian Olympic Committee and the Japan Football Association. Others are with FIFA World Cup, UEFA, and NBA. It has more opportunities of expanding its sponsorship on several major sports events that will help the company enhance its brand strength and profitability.
Lifestyle changes mean that there is saturation of developed economies, education, and lifestyle, changing preferences and tastes in the developing economies. It means a stepping rise of demand for the company’s premium services and goods.
An increase in demand for Adidas products from the Indian market has a growth rate of
33% for premium product thus the business expanding market size and opportunity in the future can be realized among the developing economies (Stony Brook University, 1).
The strategy of backward integration will enable Adidas to secure its patent right as well as integrate its R&D of its operational team to enable the open system of working.
Adidas has an opportunity to enter new markets as means of succeeding in the future. It is because the high competition in various developing countries.
It has an opportunity of generating revenues from women segment. Till now Adidas concentrates on generating revenues only from segment yet in the recent years the number of women engaging in sports has increased. Thus, investing in women attire and shoes also has great potential for Adidas. Addidas has to focus on this segment by designing women shoes and creating new products for women.
 Threats
Adidas is currently facing stiff competition globally for its brand. Nike is the leading sports company and main competitor for Adidas. Addidas is the second leading sports company in the world after Nike. Apart from Nike, there are also other regular local players competing for market penetrations and providing substitute product (Tomic, 1).
Government regulations also pose a threat to Adidas Company. With its 93% production taking place in China and 35% of its product manufacturing in China, Addidas is exposed to duties, tariffs and import regulations that are critical to the success and pricing of the company.
Addidas also faces the threat of supplier dominancy. The fact that majority of the company’s production on outsourcing, the suppliers have a higher power of bargaining than the company.

Don’t fail me now

The film indicates the value of the robotics and how it would tie to the future of education in North America. It tends to feature three first robotics competition teams as they are navigating the 2011 first season. It tends to act as a means of encouraging and inspiring the future innovators, engineers, leaders, scientists, and problem solvers.

The high school counselors can consider using the video to inspire and encourage students to pursue science, technology, mathematics, and also lay foundations for future innovation. With the video, the counselor can inspire students while showing them how the inventions can have a significant and positive impact on the society.
Counselors can be a highly effective group of professionals who positively impact the student’s achievements, aspirations, and financial aid knowledge. School counselors normally have the opportunity of offering support and understand that student may not have (Nelson, 2014). The counselors are the primary source of career information for the students and have the unique opportunity of increasing awareness on different careers. The counselors can be the source of encouragement and positive direction in the life of the student. The film indicates a group of students who are participating in the toughest subjects and their motivation to being successful.  The high scholars are usually in the need of academic guidance as they are considering possible careers and the options for college. A counselor can use the video as a way of motivating students to consider pursuing a career in science, technology, or even engineering. The video indicates how students show interest in doing something that will change the technology world and the effort that students are putting in being winners. It also demonstrates how students are demonstrating their talent in different ways and the joy they have when they know that they are doing something that they enjoy.
When using the video, the school counselor can also encourage students to take challenging courses, monitor their progress, and also connect students to academic support. The counselor can be an active leader in establishing a climate that conveys high expectations for all students and encourages student to accept challenges and also support their efforts (Nelson, 2014). It is the duty of the counselor to work on creating an environment that is supportive and also challenging.
The video also indicates some of the challenges that students have to encounter when they are participating in certain projects. It is an indication that there is no career that does not have challenges. However, what one need is determination and the urge to move past the barrier. In Shaan’s group, at one point, the robot could not work; however, the team never gave up but focused on fixing the robot so that to get back in the game as soon as possible. Focus and determination tend to be a key factor in ensuring success and if students need to excel in their career, it is important that they should demonstrate determination. When using the video, it tends to demonstrate how students can excel in the different careers if they have passion, are hardworking, and determined to excel in the different field. Don’t fail me now part 5 is an excellent video that high school counselors can use when they are counseling students as it is applicable in different ways.

Managing change effectively

Introduction
Change is usually happening in the organization and every day, there are new projects and initiatives launched to improve performance, enhance competitive advantage, and increase profits. Change management refers to the approach of driving adoption and usage so that initiatives deliver expected results and outcomes.
Change management
The ability to deliver results on multiple changes tends to allow the organization to achieve their strategic vision and also thrive in today’s changing landscape. The application of change management tends to enable the organization to deliver results on each change more effectively and also build competencies that grow the capacity of the organization to tackle more changes. Change management is essential as it helps in ensuring that suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders understand and also support the change. It also helps in creating an opportunity for development of best practices, team development, and leadership development.
Change occurs when the organization is making a transition from its current state to the desired future state. Managing change effectively will involve planning and implementing the change in the organization in a manner that will minimize employee resistance and the cost to the organization (Reiss, 2012). As a way of managing change effectively, it will be essential to check that employees affected by the change agree with or understand the need for change. It is also necessary to provide them with a chance of deciding how to manage change and be involved in planning and implementation of the change. I will consider the use of face-to-face communication as a method of handling sensitive aspects of the organizational change management. I will encourage the managers to ensure they communicate face-to-face with employees as it is a good method of conveying and developing understanding. Involving and informing people is a good method of managing change as it creates an opportunity for others to participate in the planning and implementation of the change (Reiss, 2012). It helps in enlightening burdens and spreads the organizational load; thus, creating a sense of ownership and the familiarity among the people affected.
The biggest hurdle to encounter during change process is resistance to change from employees. The resistance from employees can be as a result of lack of understanding of why the change is happening, loss of control and ownership of the work processes, and the fear of the future state. Resistance to change tends to have a long-lasting and detrimental impact on the return on investment that the project delivers. Therefore, it is essential to manage resistance (Stansverry et al. 2008). As a way of overcoming this hurdle, education and communication will help in minimizing the negative reaction. I will consider informing employees of the nature of the change and also the logic behind it before it happens. Another obstacle can be poor support and alignment with the middle management. Middle managers may be reluctant to support the change as they may perceive that the change does not align with their operational objectives. The lack of support is very common with middle managers.  As a method of overcoming the barrier, it will be essential to ensure that middle managers have full involvement in the decision-making process. In this way, the managers will get the chance to learn several aspects of the change so that they can also feel valued in the organization.
Conclusion
Creating a successful organizational change is not easy; however, the management should consider different factors to ensure that they fully implement the change successfully.

Motivation

Introduction
In today’s global marketplace, mergers and acquisitions are very common. During the period of organizational change, the manager’s role tends to become more essential. The managers tend to play the role as a mediator so as to reach the inside of each employee and also utilize their skills in a more efficient manner.

Motivation
A motivated employee tends to perform their job responsibility better and during the change, it is necessary to create an environment that maintains motivation each day for the long-term. As a way of maintaining motivation in the workplace, it will be essential to show appreciation. Appreciation may be a simple ‘nice work’ and it only takes a few minutes from your day to show employees that you notice their outstanding performance (Bruce, 2012). Showing appreciation to employees can help in motivating them to perform even better as they feel appreciated. Appreciation tends to motivate employees to maintain and increase their adeptness. Employee motivation normally grows and blossom in the right environment. When employees feel appreciated, nurtured, and acknowledged, they will give a 100% o their commitment, effort, and time in return (Bruce, 2012). Thus, it is necessary to create a work environment that provides employees with the opportunity of attaining their goals and experience what they value most in their profession. Showing that I care is also another way of creating a motivating environment for employees. Motivation normally comes from caring. When employees feel that the managers cared about them and perceived as valuable and respected members of the organization, they tend to be more enthusiastic, cooperative, and committed to the organizational goals. It is necessary to create a work environment that provides employees with the chance of satisfying their needs on a consistent basis. Making work fun is also a method of making the work environment motivating. Laughter is usually good for the body and mind and having fun tend to be a basic human need and fun in the workplace will result to increase in productivity.
A challenge that can affect motivation is personal issues. Personal issues tend to be the most challenging factor in motivation. When an employee is having motivational issues as a result of person issues in their family or love life, it can be a challenge to the manager. In this way, a strategy that I can use to overcome the challenge is by acting as a guidance counselor. I should be equipped with words of wisdom so as to motivate them to do well and stay focused on their jobs.
I will consider incorporating an incentive program for an employee that is the Tuition and reimbursement and learning opportunity. Employees are usually willing to spend time in improving their knowledge and skills so as to keep their jobs and also work towards promotion. Formal education and training tend to be expensive, and it can be difficult for employees to pay for schooling. Therefore, tuition reimbursement and ongoing training opportunities will help with employee retention (Podmoroff, 2005). Providing my employees with pay for their education, it may provide an opportunity for internal promotion and the organization can retain the best employees in the organization resulting in better organization performance in the long-term.
Conclusion
Employees normally have the motivation of completing a task when they perceive the outcome to satisfy their basic human needs. Thus, it is necessary to create a work environment that offers employees with the chance of satisfying the needs.

Mission statement

Introduction
The mission statement is the organization’s purpose. It is essential in putting the spotlight on what business the company is in and the customer needs it is endeavoring to serve.
Mission statement
The mission statement for Air Inc is to provide exceptional customer service and to establish long-term relationships with clients. On the other hand, the mission statement for Plane Inc is to provide competitive rates and terms for clients with integrity and honesty. The new mission statement is to provide safe, reliable and cost-effective services to customers without compromising quality and profitability.

A mission statement tends to captures the essence of the business goals and the philosophies underlying them (David &Fred 2003). The mission also signals what the business is all about to the customers, employees, community, and suppliers. In this case, the goal of the company is to provide excellent customer services and ensure that we form a long-term relationship with our customer. The company also aims at providing these services in a safe and cost-effective manner. Therefore, when creating the mission statement, I had to consider the various goals of the organization so as to create a compelling picture of the company for the rest of the world. The goal of the company centers on the customer service; therefore, the services that the organization offers focus on ensuring the customers receive the best services.
A good mission statement normally inspires employees and provides a direction and focus for setting lower level objectives. The mission statement is the organization’s reason for existence. The mission guides employees in making decisions and also establishing what the organization does.  The statement will help employees in meeting the goals of the company as it clearly describes what the company wants to accomplish. In this way, employees are aware of what the company aims to achieve, and they can dedicate their effort in accomplishing these goals. The mission will guide employees in meeting the goals of the company through driving loyalty among employees. Understanding the purpose of the company helps the employees to be loyal to the organization. The mission will be helpful in driving down the cost of turnover and also preventing the loss of the key employees in the company.
The new mission statement tends to be an improvement to the existing one in that it does not specify the product or even the target market. The statement provides meaning to the organization through stating what the goals the organization want to achieve and why it wants to achieve the goals (David &Fred 2003). The mission statement should be able to inspire employees and get them involved in the company and this case, the new mission statement manages to inspire employees to provide excellent customer service. I believe that the new mission statement is an improvement of the existing one in that it is clear and also easy to understanding. A good mission statement should be simple to comprehend for all employees in the organization. It also identifies with the organization and differentiates itself from everyone else.
Conclusion
The mission statement is essential in ensuring that the organization is meeting its goal. The mission statement is usually the cornerstone of the organization as gives the organization a strategy and a focus for the future. It is necessary to have a mission as it offers a sense of direction and purpose.

Education Reforms in the United States

Abstract
The public education system continues to present inequalities to many learners. As a result, many students, especially those from low-income families, end up getting locked outside some critical opportunities I the future. This paper looks at inequalities in mathematics instruction in the United States public education system. Unite states has great differences in teaching mathematic and other science subjects thus providing a biased ground for students. The paper ends by proposing a ways through which the federal government needs to take to bring equality in mathematics instruction in United States.

Education Reforms in the United States
Many people believe that the main problem with American public education is lack of focus on results. Students aren’t expected to achieve high standards; the assumption goes, and the education process takes precedence over analysis of education outcomes in policy-making processes. This argument remains valid the way it goes. In fact, it needs one further important step.  As people, we fail to hold students accountable for worse performance; while at the same time, we fail to hold government- school system accountable for performance. Public education in itself remains a failure. Why shouldn’t students follow government’s example?
The greatest test of any educational system is whether the system makes ensures every student, whatever the background, gets exposed to content needed to compete effectively in contemporary society.  Schools in the United States are continuing to fail this basic test, and, as a result,   wasting many talents of American children, who are children from diverse backgrounds. The truth is that, for many students, the education they get is greatly based on chances, creating academic changes into something like lottery with adverse consequences. The key challenge in reforming the America’s education system is to assure equal opportunities to learn essential content, skills, and problem-solving as well as reasoning abilities (Battey, 2013). Unfortunately, educational reformers on left and right continue to be consumed with the aspect of equalizing resources, while missing the core of schooling which is instructing academic content by educators to students. It is exactly in this coverage area of instructional content that large inequalities exist, particularly in mathematics as well as science. What surprises is that these subjects remain determiners of future employment opportunities as well as U.S. economic growth. The federal government has therefore failed to implement common ground in its public schools for such subjects.   Private schools and charter schools seem to be places where student can achieve their desires. Unfortunately, they are few and costly to poor families.  The combined factors, therefore, hinder students from attaining success in such fields.
A lot gets revealed when key issues related to the extent, as well as the origins of inequalities in mathematics content coverage, is concerned. It remains a no surprise that inequality in the opportunities to learn relates to lower achievement of the underprivileged students. Children from high-poverty districts always get exposed to limited rigorous content. As a matter of fact, weak math instruction remains common in the struggling districts.  Their instructional content has commonalities with the low-income districts in various states as compared to affluent districts of same state. The state government need to know that inequality in the learning opportunity to learn is a problem for poor as well as minority students (White-Clark, DiCarlo& Gilchriest, 2008).  Keen scrutiny reveals that the greatest variation in educational opportunities lay among the middle-income school districts.  The government should not assume that just because some people live in a middle-class society that their children get equal chance to learn critical mathematics topics to the desired depth and incoherent as well as focused way.
Unequal learning opportunity threatens every student since it remains the difference in classrooms which is the greatest variation source. Over what state, district, or school a student goes to, classroom assignment translates to what topics they get a chance to learn. Classes differ in the topics taught, duration, rigor as well as order. For instance, students in various “algebra" classes need to focus on primary arithmetic topics or handle complex mathematics, experiencing greatly different learning opportunities even when sharing one-course title and even in one same school! What policy makers never realize is the widespread of the activity of tracking, where learners at one same grade get taught varied mathematics content, truly is (Polikoff, 2012). Students who get in classrooms where there is limited topic coverage see chances of moving to take advanced courses in higher learning institutions severely limited.  The reason is that once a student gets placed in low track, it is difficult to catch up. This situation has longer term results. National survey show that in the eighth grade three-quarters of learners get tracked in a way or another, as are approximately a third of the fourth-graders. I challenge the federal government to rationalize influencing children's chances based on how effective they do while they are ten years of age. Before we rush to decisions, just from the fact that classrooms remain places where great inequality comes from, it doesn’t translate to blaming teachers.  A large number of teachers are always ill prepared to tutor mathematics (Polikoff, 2012). The worst mistake is that they get forced to pick and select what to tutor from conflicting textbooks’ guidance, state as well as district standards and assessments.  Many mathematics books provide shallow coverage to many topics instead of focusing on limited key topics in every grade. This approach gets done in many higher-achieving nations.
Despite the great challenge of providing equal opportunity in learning mathematics, I strongly believe that there is a great reason for optimism. The Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, for instance, presents a perfect chance to implement high-quality standards. The Common Core provides an opportunity to reform the entire fragmented, incoherent United States mathematics curriculum which makes mathematics learning an outcome of blind opportunity, and to shift towards a system which gives every child an equal opportunity at an education (White-Clark, DiCarlo& Gilchriest, 2008). Since many good employment opportunities base on mathematics and sciences, the government will be have done injustice to the students if it does not level these critical subjects in its educational system.  The national government needs to implement one mathematics curriculum for all American schools to provide equal opportunities for students. Inability to do this will continue to subject many talents to destruction. The government should also invest in training more mathematics teachers to ensure personnel sufficiency. When this gets done, students will be availed with equal opportunities while at the same time given a leveraged curriculum. The dream of American people have often rested on an assumption that education  creates the level playing ground through  which this becomes possible.
To conclude, provision of fair ground for public education remains a responsibility of the national government. There is, therefore, need for policy makers to work toward implementing educational reforms that eliminates education inequalities, particularly in mathematics. Such reform need to get promoted by a common curriculum for specific grades as well as proper and well-equipped teachers.  We should, therefore, remain with no option but to call the government to eliminate this inequality and provide equal opportunities for children the public education system.  The federal government needs not only come to its task for fairness in resource allocation but also in syllabus regulation.

The Great Greek Philosophers

The social and political upheaval from the Persian Wars and the continued strife between Sparta and Athens did result to one of the least anticipated and unintended consequence.  A flood of new knowledge and ideas in the 5th century poured into Athens. These new ideas were due to the arrival of Ionian thinkers to the Attic peninsula. Athens became the center for artists and intellectuals from all over the Greek world.

Additionally, during the mid 5th century, it became common for the advanced thinkers to reject and refute the old traditional explanations of the nature of the world. It resulted in the decline of religious beliefs and war during the century. Goddess and gods were not at the same level of regard as the earlier century. It is the belief that, with time, the Greek philosophers began to suspect the existence of a logical and rational order that helps in understanding the universe (Litchfield, 14).
Socrates is one of the most wisest and noble Athenian. The Athenian law expected that all able-bodied men to serve as citizen soldiers from the age of 18 to 60. Socrates served in the armored infantry as a hoplite. He took part in three military campaigns at Amphipolis, Delium and Potidaea during the Peloponnesian war. He is famous for his fearlessness and courage in battle which is traits that he practiced throughout his life (Philosophers.co.UK, 1). On his trail, he equated his refusal to do away with his legal troubles as a soldier refusing to retreat from battle when death was inevitable. Socrates has a penetrating thought and brilliant debates. He emphasized on the importance of the mind as being more crucial than the human body. He managed to define and create the world of ideas from the world of senses with the world of ideas being the most crucial (May, 20).
Aristotle made contributions to our present-day metaphysics, mathematics, logic, metaphysics, politics, botany, ethics, biology, physics, medicine, agriculture, theater and dance. He was empirically minded than Socrates and Plato and famous for rejecting the theory of forms by Plato. As a polymath and a prolific writer, Aristotle transformed all areas of knowledge he came across. His prose style of writing is an influence on many great followers (Rodziewicz, 211).
Plato was a member of the aristocracy in Athens, and he received the best education. The influence of his thoughts on religion and science is much greater than all the other philosophers (Forrest, 21). Both indirectly and directly, Plato’s view of the world was in great dominance up to the 17th-century scientific revolution through which his arguments provided a proof of God’s existences and the immortal nature of the human soul as currently found in Christian theology (Kahn, 18).
Conclusion
The Peloponnesian and Persian Wars gave the lessons that the human actions, both women, and men were a factor that determined their personal destiny. Additionally, there were also the questioning if the traditional notion of wrong and right noticeable in the Hellenic comedy and tragedy. The Greek philosophers made use of their creative energies in explaining the resources to comedy, history, tragedy, architecture and arts. Additionally, these energies were also utilized in philosophy development which they defined as the love of wisdom. Philosophy came to existences after the Greeks discovered their dissatisfaction with mythical and supernatural explanations of reality
